October 30, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Optique has been named the Best Place to Buy Eyewear in Nashville in the 2026 Nashville Scene Readers’ Poll, marking the seventh straight year the practice has earned the distinction. In the same poll, Dr. Michele Sonsino placed among the top three optometrists in the city, continuing a run of recognition that stretches back to 2020.
The Nashville Scene Best of Nashville Readers’ Poll draws votes from residents across the region and spans retail and service categories throughout the city. In the eyewear category, Optique placed ahead of national competitors, reflecting sustained local support for the independent practice. The dual recognition underscores both the strength of the practice’s eyewear selection and the reputation of its lead optometrist.

Dr. Jeffrey Sonsino addressed the recognition on behalf of the practice. “We are thrilled that Nashville has chosen Optique again for the honors of best place to buy eyewear in the city and named Dr. Michele in the best optometrist categories. We take the patient experience very seriously at Optique and are constantly striving to provide an exceptional experience for all of our patients, especially those with complex conditions.”
Optique opened in 2006 with a single employee and no patients. The practice expanded over the following years, adding examination lanes and staff, and relocated to a larger space in 2015 that doubled its footprint and introduced specialized centers for keratoconus and dry eye treatment. Today the practice maintains locations in Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee, offering comprehensive eye care, specialty contact lenses, and treatment centers for dry eye and glaucoma.
The team at optique nashville includes several doctors with distinct areas of focus. Lead technician Alexis Schaffer described the group. “All of the doctors at Optique have a passion for their work like I have never seen before. Dr. Zach Reynard is incredibly compassionate and skilled at treating dry eyes. Dr. Aishu Pillai is a master at comprehensive eye care and finding asymptomatic conditions that could turn into big problems when not found early. Dr. Jeff is easily the top person for medically necessary contact lenses in the state. And, Dr. Michele excels at connecting with people and making everyone feel welcome at the practice.”
Dr. Michele Sonsino, who founded the practice, reflected on the work that has defined her career. “I absolutely love coming to work each day knowing that I am helping people see better. Vision is my passion and my life’s work. Who wouldn’t love helping people realize their full potential every day?”
Dr. Sonsino was born in Tokyo, Japan, and studied biology and communications at the University of Illinois before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Her clinical training included rotations at the University of Chicago and the Veterans Hospital in Boston. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and is recognized for her work in comprehensive eye care, cataract evaluation, and specialty contact lenses for astigmatism and mature eyes.
Optique is independent and locally owned and provides eye care, eyewear, specialty lenses, and dedicated treatment centers for dry eye and glaucoma across its Nashville and Franklin locations in Tennessee.
