Wisconsin Suitcase Discovery Led to Multistate Investigation and Arrest

Fresno Visalia, CA, October 16, 2026 —

The discovery of two women found dead in suitcases along a rural Wisconsin road prompted a multistate investigation and ultimately led to the arrest of Steven Zelich, a former police officer, according to the information provided.

Investigators linked Zelich to the victims through DNA evidence and a BDSM dating website. The summary does not provide details about how the website figured into the investigation, what DNA evidence was collected, or where the investigation extended beyond Wisconsin.

The victims’ names, the date and precise location where they were found, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths were not provided. The information also does not specify when Zelich was arrested, what charges he faced, or the eventual outcome of the case. His arrest is the reported result of the investigation; no further legal findings are included in the available account.

The case, as described, involved both forensic evidence and an online connection as investigators sought to identify links between Zelich and the two women. The account does not provide statements from law enforcement, relatives, attorneys or other people connected to the case, and it does not describe investigative steps beyond the DNA evidence and the dating website link.

Without additional details, the scope and timeline of the multistate investigation remain unclear. The information establishes that the discovery led to an investigation and that Zelich was arrested after investigators connected him to the victims, but it does not establish the full sequence of events or any subsequent court outcome.
